Exploring CITIC Telecom Data Center】Embracing AI Technologies and Cultivating Future Innovators

The IT industry has long faced a shortage of manpower, especially in recent years with the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) as a major trend. This further increases the demand for talents in intelligent technologies and cybersecurity to combat the evolving AI-driven cyber threats. In response to this challenge, CITIC Telecom CPC is actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by dedicating substantial resources to youth development programs. These initiatives aim to nurture the next generation of technology innovators and bring innovative thinking to the IT industry.

Igniting Passion for the IT Industry through the Power of Intelligent Technologies and Cybersecurity

The recently hosted "Exploring CITIC Telecom CPC Data Center" tour welcomed students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, offering them firsthand experience of infrastructure related to IT operations and cybersecurity. The opportunity to explore the highly secured data centers and Security Operations Centers (SOCs) left the students filled with enthusiasm and inspiration. This invaluable experience aims to deepen the understanding of the younger generation regarding intelligent technologies and cybersecurity, while sparking their interest in pursuing future careers in the IT industry.

The highlights of this visit include an introduction to our TrustCSI™ 3.0 Cybersecurity solution suite and a guided tour of the 7x24 SOC, offering students with valuable insights into advanced and professional cybersecurity technologies and knowledge. Through exploring the routine tasks of security experts, cybersecurity standards, the pivotal role of SOC and cybersecurity challenges, students gained an understanding of proficient management across People, Process, and Technology domains for ensuring effective information security of an organization. This experience cultivated their interest in pursuing professional, challenging, and diverse cybersecurity roles.

The tour also featured a hands-on session where our development team demonstrated two major applications of our self-developed AI-AR Remote Hand - remote operations and real-time technical guidance. To ignite their creativity, students had the chance to try on AR glasses for a hands-on experience, immersing themselves in the practical application of intelligent technologies. We then introduced our "Intelligent Operations Journey" and discussed a series of innovative technologies, including Cognitive Object Recognition Systems (CORS), Natural Language Processing (NLP), data analytics, and blockchain technology in commercial applications. This further broadened their technical horizons, the vision of technologies shaping the future, and provided them with valuable experiences for their future learning and development.

Venturing into ICT Professions to Inspire Digital Innovation for the Next Generation

Our parent company, CITIC Telecom, spares no effort in nurturing IT talent and actively participated in the celebration of World Telecommunication & Information Society Day (WTISD) 2024. The Communications Association of Hong Kong (CAHK) organized the “GreenTech ICT Open Day” with the aim of promoting the latest advancements in ICT to the public, especially targeting the youth and the academic communities. To further this mission, CITIC Telecom warmly welcomed teachers and students from St. Stephen’s Girls’ College to visit its offices and ICT infrastructure at the CITIC Telecom Tower. During the visit, they had the opportunity to gain insights into promoting green data centers through emission reduction and resource optimization. They have also learned about the vital role of the ICT industry in sustainable development and daily life. By fostering students’ creativity in digital innovation, CITIC Telecom is dedicated to building a farsighted and sustainable digital society.
