When considering a managed security services provider, enterprises and SMBs consider many factors. Apart from the potential in cost saving, the other factors include the security expertise, proven management process and the provider’s advanced technologies.

Focusing on investing in its infrastructure, people and process, CITIC Telecom CPC aims to continuously enhance its range of managed services to customers. The company’s TrustCSI Managed Security Services (MSS) has been recognized, for four consecutive years, in the Computerworld Hong Kong Awards MSS provider category.

“Advanced technology is only part of a solution to help customers protect themselves from security threats,” said Daniel Kwong, senior vice president, information technology and security services at CITIC Telecom CPC. “People are another critical factor that cannot be neglected.”

He added that enterprises are becoming aware that a talented pool of security experts with ample industry experience together with security intelligence services are important to proactively protect their IT environments.

“In the coming years, we will see companies increasingly relying on service providers to benefit from the talented and experienced security expertise, advanced technologies, rich security intelligence service and proven management process,” he said.

Security intelligence and analytics

Enterprises are constantly fighting against the ever-changing cyber security threats such as advanced persistent threat (APT). This new threat requires a high degree of covertness over a long period of time, making it difficult for traditional signature-based security devices to detect this new attack and hence posing challenges to enterprises.

To tackle new security attacks, CITIC Telecom CPC strengthens the TrustCSI MSS with security intelligence capabilities. It not only sends threats or vulnerability information to customers, but also uses advanced security analytics and correlations to detect anomalies and deviations from baseline behavior.

Kwong added that the security intelligence capabilities allow TrustCSI MSS to instantly detect, correlate and provide security fixes recommendations to customers. Through an online portal, they get the full picture on the enterprise security status and detailed security events handling information in real time. He said the company also plans to introduce a sandbox solution for tighter threat protection to enterprises.

Round-the-clock monitoring

This service is supported by CITIC Telecom CPC’s self-owned Security Operations Centers in Greater China managed round-the-clock by their certified information security experts.

Interoperating with the company’s SmartCLOUD offering, TrustCSI MSS allows customers to enjoy high security protection in the cloud platform. It also enables customers to deploy services and solutions in private cloud and hybrid cloud environments securely and cost-effectively.

Kwong added that effective IT governance is ensured through the improved risk management process.

“Customers can focus on their own business-critical operations in their companies. As a result, capital and operational investments can be reduced,” he concluded.
