It is because companies can more closely monitor the status of equipment to not only optimize maintenance schedules, but also predict and preempt problems, including through more convenient, faster and detailed remote diagnostics.

Automatic replenishment: the entire 5G infrastructure ultimately translates into end-to-end supply chain integration, where factory tools with integrated 5G networking can automatically and rapidly replenish parts and supplies as needed, without human intervention, further reducing the inefficiencies and delays of the past.

Clearly, 5G will power the Smart Industries of the future. However, it is vital not to overlook the necessity of managing the huge volumes of structured and unstructured data generated by 5G connected devices. This information and network management will need to leverage the latest technologies to cope with the unprecedented traffic volumes, including utilizing network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN), alongside high performance Cloud Computing, robust storage and Big Data analytics to optimize the network and enterprise management.
