A Financial Organization with Offices in Estonia and around Europe Faces Challenges with Remote Work Facility for All Employees

Across the globe, all organizations have experienced uncertain times due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). The past few weeks have been really critical given most of the countries announced special measures to deal with the emergency situation.

On 13th March 2020, Estonia also declared a state of emergency until 1st May 2020. This step is considered necessary by the Estonian government to combat the spread of the coronavirus in Estonia in the most efficient manner.

Since the entire country was advised to stay indoors and avoid contact with other people. This leads to an increase in the usage of the Internet during the day. Estonia, the first fully digitalized society, its enterprises and their staffs, however still experience severely limited access to business operations.

Business Continuity during Coronavirus Lockdowns

One of our customers, a financial organization in Estonia, after conducting the business from remote for two working days since the declaration of the state of emergency experienced the strain on existing IT Infrastructure. They realized by the third day, Sunday the 15thof March that they might have a problem and the existing VPN setup might not handle all the new connections considering all the employees will be working from home. With their offices spread across most of Northern and Central Europe, this posed issues for their ability to provide critical financial services.

This issue could potentially create a high risk of traffic bottlenecks in the otherwise optimized and well-designed MPLS network (based on our TrueCONNECT™ Premium solution). To overcome the situation, customer decided to reach out to our 24/7 support and monitoring team, and intern the team immediately assigned one of the most expert engineers to resolve the issue. Our dedicated expert helped the customer with traffic and VPN reconfigurations over the next 12 hours (a task which would normally take several days).

On Monday the 16th, all employees of the customer could access critical systems to ensure that operations proceeded as business as usual. Having well-established service support from a trusted partner and professional team (CITIC Telecom CPC), customer managed to switch to fully remote office without any major business interruption during a pandemic lockdown.

Are you also experiencing challenges with your remote work facility or existing VPN solution? Feel free to reach out to us. In this uncertain times, we care and will ensure to help you.
